Lagos FA Cup Kicks Off Wednesday

The much-awaited 2021/2022 Winners Golden Bet Lagos State Challenge Cup would kick off on Wednesday across some centres in the state.

A total of 127 male teams and 10 female teams are expected to take part in this year’s Lagos FA Cup.

Speaking at the draws ceremony of the competition, the chairman Technical Committee of Lagos FA, Adedotun Coker said the rooky matches would be played in the first round with 58 teams. He said out of the rooky matches only 29 rooky teams would qualify to meet the 25 teams who are already in the second round of the competition.

“We are looking forward to the 58 rook teams that would slug it out in the first round. We have decided that 29 teams would qualify for the next stage from the rooky matches. The NNL and NLO teams would begin their campaign in rounds 16 and 32 of the FA Cup so presently what we are going to witness on Wednesday is rooky matches in various centres, “he said.

Coker said matches would be played across the Sports centres in the states. Among the venues selected for the game are Strong Tower football pitch, Ikorodu, Zumaratu football pitch, Ikorodu, Odion Ighalo sports centre, Ajegunle, Unity Primary School, Ajegunle, Legacy pitch of National Stadium, Surulere, Alade sports centre, Ipaja Command and Rehabilitation centre, Isheri, Ojodu Berger.

Coker said all the teams should formalize their documentation before the commencement of the tournament saying that the organisers are not ready for any unnecessary work for teams
