Akinkunmi Amoo On Winning The Danish Superliga With FC Copenhagen: “I Am Delighted To Be Part Of This Historic Moment.”

Nigerian wonderkid Akinkunmi Amoo watched on from the stands as FC Copenhagen defeated AaB 3-0 on the final day of the season to clinch the Danish Superliga on Sunday. Amoo joined in with the title celebrations at full time with his mother.

Earlier this month, the teenage midfielder was ruled out for the rest of the season after he picked up a thigh injury. Amoo, a €4 million January signing from Hammarby IF, appeared only twice for Copenhagen, including against Nordsjælland where he scored the game-winning goal.

Taking to his Instagram and Twitter handles, Amoo relished winning his first career league title, while also thanking the club for helping him settle in his new surroundings. He wrote:

“I am delighted to be part of this historic moment in Copenhagen. The experience at this iconic club has been interesting. I am looking forward to next season, to give my best for the badge, win titles and be part of the club’s history.

“I appreciate the fans for their love and kindness. Since I arrived in Copenhagen, I have enjoyed overwhelming love and support. I am honored by the opportunity the coaching staff and the club management gave me to be part of this family. My teammates have been wonderful as well.

“Emotional day for me, living this moment with my mother, I will cherish today all my life. To all my fans and friends, it’s the beginning of more success, thank you for the amazing support. Thank you for supporting your boy, all your prayers and words of encouragement, I am not taking them for granted. God bless you all.”
