Kelechi Iheanacho Relishes Helping Celtic Get ‘Massive Win’ in Scottish Premiership

Summer signing at Celtic of Scotland, Kelechi Iheanacho has disclosed that he is still relishing the moment he scored a last-minute penalty that helped his new club seal a ‘massive win’ last weekend in the Scottish Premiership.

Sports247 reports that Iheanacho got off The Bhoys’ bench in the 70th minute for his debut with the Glasgow-based giants and was handed the opportunity of a dream start to life at Parkhead with the responsibility of taking the last kick of the game away to Kilmarnock.

The Hoops ended up winning 2-1 and ‘Senior Man Kelz,’ who had a frustrating time on loan last season at English Championship side, Middlesbrough, admitted that scoring on his debut in Scotland was a wonderful experience for him.

The 28-year-old left-footed forward, who joined Celtic from Sevilla of Spain, disclosed: ‘I’m feeling really, really good for the opportunity, and I could see how happy the fans were after that goal. I could see how they were feeling because it was really important for us.”

The product of Taye Football Academy of Owerri, who shot to limelight as the most valuable player while helping Nigeria win the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates, admitted that he faced bolts of nerves before taking the crucial penalty at Rugby Park.

“It was a great feeling for me. There was a lot of pressure for that spot kick, but I just took it with composure. Winning the three points was very massive,” said Iheanacho, who earlier in his career played for Manchester City of England.
