Kebbi Fishers Crowned Africa’s Top Beach Soccer Club for Sixth Straight Year

Three-time Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) champions, Kebbi Beach Soccer Club, also known as Kebbi Fishers, have once again proven their dominance on the continent after emerging Africa’s top-ranked team in the latest Beach Soccer Worldwide rankings.

With a commanding 232 aggregate points, the Kebbi Fishers retained the No. 1 spot in Africa, a position they have impressively held for six consecutive years, from 2019 to 2025.

Their consistent participation in Beach Soccer Worldwide-organised tournaments has significantly boosted their international profile and earned them global respect.

Widely regarded as the most successful team in Nigeria’s beach soccer history, the Fishers have claimed three of the last four national league titles—securing championships in 2021, 2023, and 2024.

Speaking on the latest achievement, club officials credited the players’ commitment, structured club development, and the support of stakeholders in Kebbi State for the club’s enduring success. “Our consistency is not by accident; it’s a product of planning, discipline, and exposure to high-level competitions across the world,” said a team representative.

Elsewhere on the continental chart, Ugandan clubs are closing the gap, with St Lawrence BSC and Kampala City BSC ranked second and third, respectively. Other Ugandan sides such as Mutoola BSC, Buganda Royal BSC, Kiringente BSC, Mengo Hills BSC, and KJT BSC also featured prominently in the Top 10, highlighting Uganda’s rising dominance in the African beach soccer scene.

The rankings reaffirm West Africa’s leadership in beach soccer while showcasing the rapid growth of the sport in East Africa, particularly Uganda.

As the 2025 season gathers momentum, all eyes will be on Kebbi Fishers to see if they can maintain their supremacy both domestically and internationally.
