Katsina United Football Club has officially unveiled 11 new signings ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, reinforcing every department of the squad as preparations intensify for the upcoming campaign.
Sports247 reports that the unveiling ceremony took place at the club’s secretariat within the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, where the Club Chairman and Supervising Coordinator, Surajo Malumfashi, formally presented the new recruits to supporters and stakeholders.
Speaking during the event, Malumfashi expressed confidence that the quality and experience of the new additions would significantly strengthen the team, emphasizing that the recruitment drive reflects the club’s ambition to compete strongly in the new season.
The new arrivals include Sierra Leonean goalkeeper Koroma Francis, experienced striker Samson Obi, midfielder Michael Ibeh Okoro, defensive midfielder Ubong Essien, central defenders Eric Ekpere, Chinedu Ozor Benjamin, and Abba Musa, as well as striker Lius Dadong, goalkeeper Kolawale Oladipo, right winger Joshua Akpan, and left-back Emmanuel Bakare.
Most of the players have signed two-year contracts, with only striker Lius Dadong penning a one-year deal.
Among the standout acquisitions is Samson Obi, who brings valuable domestic and international experience after previous spells with Hapoel Haifa, Enyimba, Abia Warriors, Rivers United, and clubs in the Middle East. Midfielder Michael Ibeh Okoro also returns with a wealth of experience from the NPFL and foreign leagues, including stints in Uzbekistan and Iraq.
The defensive unit has also been strengthened with the additions of Eric Ekpere, Chinedu Ozor Benjamin, and Abba Musa, while Kolawale Oladipo and Koroma Francis are expected to provide healthy competition in the goalkeeping department.
Katsina United’s recruitment strategy suggests a deliberate effort to blend experienced NPFL performers with players who possess continental and international exposure.
With the 2026/27 NPFL season fast approaching, the Chanji Boys are clearly focused on building a more competitive squad capable of challenging for improved results.
