Karim Adeyemi Boasts: I’m Not Afraid Of Competing With Lamine Yamal At Barcelona

New arrival at FC Barcelona of Spain, Karim Adeyemi has come out with a bold declaration that he is not afraid of competing with youth sensation, Lamine Yamal for a starting spot in the Catalans’ squad, Sports247 reports.

While many observers believe the 24-year-old winger-cum-midfielder is in for a tough battle for regular playing time at Camp Nou, Adeyemi insists he is ready for the challenge ahead of him, even if it means forcing his way into the squad.

While affirming his determination to excel at Barca, the Nigerian-born former Germany international is also banking on his relationship with the Catalans’ coach, Hansi Flick, who he played under in the national team of his country of birth.

Adeyemi, who joined the LaLiga champions from Borussia Dortmund of Germany as part of a €30m transfer deal, comes with a sheet of 10 goals scored while operating out wide, which puts him in direct conflict with Raphinha, Roony Bardghji, Ferran Torres, Anthony Gordon and Yamal.

Regardless of the well-stock options in his playing position, Adeyemi is staying upbeat about his chances, especially as Yamal and Torres might not be match fit in time for Barcelona’s first game of the 2026/27 LaLiga season against Elche on August 23rd.

Adeyemi enthused, “I hope Flick sees things in me that I can contribute to the team. He knows me very well from the national team and we’re very close. I’m not afraid of competing for a place with Lamine Yamal or anyone else. If I’m at my best, I’ll play.”
