Nigerian-born midfielder, Karim Adeyemi faced an ‘unusual obstacle’ on his arrival from Borussia Dortmund of Germany, before he could eventually sign his transfer papers at FC Barcelona of Spain.

Sports247 gathered that what should have been a smooth signing process for the feather haired dazzler ended up being delayed for several hours before he could pull off his dream move and put pen to paper.
The ‘unusual obstacle’ that Adeyemi found on arrival was that Barca’s president was not available to meet him in Spain, which stalled what would have been an immediate signing ceremony and unveiling for the lad.
However, the 24-year-old Adeyemi was lodged in a hotel by the club’s officials, while awaiting the president’s return, as their coach, Hansi Flick had already prioritised signing the fair-skinned Nigerian-born star as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, with €22m already agreed up front with Dortmund.
A report by Tribal Football added, “Adeyemi is ready to sign a five-year contract, but the final details of his arrival remain incomplete, as Barcelona await the return of club president Joan Laporta following Spain’s 2026 FIFA World Cup title win in the USA.
“The club needs Laporta to sign off on Adeyemi’s arrival with reports from Marca indicating that the Germany international is effectively confined to his hotel close to the Estadio Camp Nou.
“With the switch not yet fully ratified, Adeyemi cannot train with Flick’s squad as part of their pre-season return, but he should be registered in time for their summer trip to the UK next month.”
