Junior Yellow Greens of Nigeria captain, Ali Rahmon is relishing his side’s shock victory over hosts Rwanda at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifiers, but admitted the team needs improvements before their next two games versus Moazambique and Sierra Leone.
Sports247 reports that Rahmon took stock after the Junior Yellow Greens rebounded from their opening-day loss to Uganda with their second win on the bounce, and he revealed details about the areas in which the squad still has to make improvements before their next two games.

The Nigerian squad’s conquest of Rwanda on Wednesday came two days after they pulled off an equally stunning five-wicket victory over Ghana at Gahanga Oval on Monday, to revive their quest for a place at the 2028 ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The Nigerian squad pulled off a huge shock with their second straight victory, as they defeated hosts Rwanda with a captivating and truly convincing performance that saw them surge by seven wickets.
Although Rwanda batted first, they were bowled out for 79 runs in 23.1 overs, then struggled to build momentum against Nigeria’s disciplined bowling attack, as the Junior Yellow Greens chased down the target with ease, reaching 84 runs for the loss of three wickets in 15.2 overs to secure the win.
However, Rahmon admitted he and his teammates must stay focused, as they get ready to confront Mozambique, following which they will line out for their final game against Sierra Leone, in what is expected to be another feisty challenge to their qualification capacity.
“It actually went our way because we were actually looking to bat and bowl first, get some early wickets and mount pressure, but we didn’t really get the early wicket. I feel, as a batting unit, we are not there yet, because we lost too many wickets chasing 94 runs,” the Junior Yellow Greens’ skipper submitted.
