Julian Draxler was born on the 20th of September 1993 in Gladbeck, a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

He was born to his mother, Monika Draxler (a housekeeper) and his father, Hans-Jürgen Draxler (a former amateur footballer and current manager of his son).

Julian had Blue collar roots. He grew up with his siblings in the coal-mining industrial town where blue collars workers were high in demand.

It was also a migrant neighbourhood known for producing local talents in football. It was where the likes of Mesut Ozil and Leroy Sane (both migrants) came from. The community was a football scouting ground for FC Schalke 04.

The working-class ethos ingrained in the local culture of his community tends to have a palpable influence on breeding young footballers.

However, the case of Julian Draxler is different. He was kicking a ball around virtually as soon as he could walk.

His decision of wanting to become a footballer started after his dad took him to a Schalke game as a kid – the team he went on to sign for. However, he never started his career through the club’s youth system.

Julian started grass root football with BV Rentfort at the age of 5. Below is his ID card for Rentfort.

Rentfort played there until he was 7. There, he was seen as different from other kids.

He achieved what no kid had ever achieved. He was known for his speed and intensity while both playing football on green pitch or sand.

The early rise to stardom led to several youth clubs circling him like sharks. Julian completed his first transfer in his early teenage years.

It was so unlikely so someone of such age to be put on the transfer budget of youth clubs.

Julian was bought by SSV Buer from his hometown club BV Rentfort.

It didn’t take up to a year before FC Schalke 04 got wind of an early talent in the making. They acquired his services in 2001.

Julian is a German-born Jewish footballer. He is devoted to Jews customs and traditions.

Julian believes Jewish law is rooted in the Torah, the first five books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. He also believes Abraham is the father of Judaism.
