Joy Omewa Makes BK Häcken Debut in 4-1 Victory Over AIK

Nigerian international striker Joy Omewa made her debut for BK Häcken as a substitute as the Swedish side secured an emphatic 4-1 home victory over AIK.

Bodin opened the scoring in the fourth minute before doubling Häcken’s advantage in the 40th minute to give the hosts a comfortable 2-0 lead at the interval.

Tabby Tindell extended the advantage in the 62nd minute, while Tilde Karlsson completed the scoring for Häcken in stoppage time, finding the net in the 90+1st minute.

AIK managed to pull one goal back during the encounter, but Häcken maintained control to secure a convincing home victory.

For Omewa, the appearance marked the beginning of a new chapter following her recent move to BK Häcken from English side Nottingham Forest.

The Nigerian striker has signed a contract with the Swedish club that runs through the 2029 season, underlining Häcken’s long-term confidence in her abilities.

Speaking about her move, Omewa expressed her desire to bring positivity and energy to her new club.

“I want to contribute with joy – ‘Joy’ – just like my name,” the Nigerian forward said.

Omewa’s journey to Hisingen has taken her across several clubs and countries. She left Nigeria at the age of 17 after beginning her football journey with Confluence Queens.

She subsequently moved to Denmark, where she joined B93. After spending a year with the Danish club, Omewa continued her development with Fortuna Hjørring, where she spent approximately four and a half years.

Her next destination was England, where she had a shorter spell with Nottingham Forest before completing her move to BK Häcken.

The transfer to Sweden represents another significant step in the career of the Nigerian international, who will now look to establish herself in the Häcken attack and contribute goals and attacking threat during the remainder of the campaign.

With a long-term contract secured and her first appearance already under her belt, Omewa will hope to build momentum and become an important part of Häcken’s plans through 2029.
