Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) Technical Adviser, Nurudeen Aweroro, has described his move from Ikorodu City to the Oluyole Warriors as a major milestone in his coaching career, saying the opportunity to lead one of Nigeria’s biggest clubs represents a significant step forward.
Aweroro made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Sports247 during the colourful appreciation ceremony held in honour of veteran football administrator Chief Olaseinde Bankole (Zico) at the Oba Moshood Alani Oyede Mini Stadium, Joju, Sango-Ota.

The event, organised by the Leventis Joju Area Sports Committee in conjunction with Office Affair Project, celebrated Bankole’s immense contributions to grassroots football through novelty matches, tributes, and award presentations.
Reflecting on his transition from Ikorodu City to Shooting Stars, Aweroro said every ambitious coach aspires to work at a higher level, and joining the Ibadan giants was an opportunity he could not overlook.
“For every coach, we have always looked forward to stepping up. Shooting Stars SC is a big team in Nigeria. Having an offer there was a good step for me, and I am happy to be working with a good management team,” he told Sports247.
The former Ikorodu City boss also praised the club’s leadership for creating an environment that enabled the team to achieve one of its major objectives.
“Huge respect to the management of Shooting Stars SC. Together, we were able to secure continental qualification after the club had missed out for 27 years. It has been a big experience moving to 3SC,” he said.
Aweroro further used the opportunity to encourage young coaches and footballers to remain committed to self-improvement, stressing that success in football requires discipline, patience, and hard work.
“My advice to players and coaches is to stay focused, keep working hard, and understand that the job is not easy. But it becomes easier for anyone who takes it seriously.”
Having guided Shooting Stars back onto the continental stage, Aweroro will now be aiming to build on that success as the Oluyole Warriors prepare to represent Nigeria in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup, with expectations high among the club’s supporters for another memorable campaign.
