Jo Bonfrere, Fanny Amun to coach Nigerian soccer legends in Ambode Testimonial

Former Dream Team chief coach, Dutchman Bonfrere Johannes, who helped Nigeria won her first and only Olympic soccer gold medal at the greatest sports showpiece in the world, the Atlanta 96 Olympics, has confirmed his presence in Lagos, Nigeria on May 18, 2019, to be a part of the historic assemblage of Nigerian and African legends, who will play in a Testimonial Match for the outgoing Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

 

 

Bonfrere Jo, it has been confirmed will work as one of the two coaches to handle the Nigerian football legends in the game against a carefully selected team of African legends, sports247.ng learns

Former Golden Eaglets chief coach and erstwhile Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ambassador Fanny Amun, will be the second coach on the side of the Nigerian legends.

The Ambode Testimonial Match organized by ‘The Match International Ltd’ which would see a team of Nigerian football legends play against African legends, has been in the spotlight for several months and it would be the biggest sports events in the continent on May 18, 2019. The venue is the Soccer Temple Agege Stadium.

The General Coordinator of the Ambode Testimonial, Waidi Akanni, a former Nigeria international defensive midfielder disclosed that, the duo of coaches Joe Erico and Henry Nwosu, will be lead the team of the technical crew in charge of the African legends.

For ‘The Match’ which would have been played at the new Onikan Stadium, but for the reconstruction work there due to the rebuilding exercise initiated by the outgoing governor, the former World Footballer of the Year and President of Liberia, George Weah, will captain the African legends. Other African legends that will feature in the game which would see Governor Ambode play on the two sides, include; El-Hadji Diouf, Michael Essien, Samuel Eto’O Fills, Abubarkar Titi Camara, Didier Zokora and Yaya Toure, Others are; Richard Kingston, Herita Illunga, Christian Karembeu, Aaron Mokoena and Mamodu Sissoko.

While the Nigerian side will feature top national team legends as Mutiu Adepoju, Samson Siasia, Austin Eguavoen, Bremna Alada, Godwin Okpara, Nwankwo Kanu, Yisa Sofoluwe, Victor Ikpeba,Nduka Ugbade, Wasiu Ipaye, Friday Ekpo, Alloy Agu, Tajudeen Disu among others.

Akanni, revealed that the Africa legends will start arriving in Lagos on May 16 and would have a work out at the Agege Stadium on May 17 before the game on May 18.
