James Emmanuel Targets Better Position For Nigeria’s Men’s 4x100m Relay Team At Commonwealth Games

A member of Nigeria’s men’s 4x100m men’s relay team that won silver at this year’s African Senior Athletics Championship in Accra, Ghana, James Taiwo Emmanuel is targeting a better position at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.

Sports247 reports that Emmanuel has already turned his focus on Glasgow 2026, where he believes the quartet will improve on their achievement in Accra, as they have learnt crucial lessons from their inability to pick the gold medal.

He hailed the sense of togetherness and mutual understanding that exists among all members of the Nigerian contingent and singled out the 4x100m quartet for the affinity that helped them run an almost flawless race in Accra.

Emmanuel, who made his debut on the continental scene, described their second-place finish as the result of friendship and a strong bond within the squad, hence his delight at having something to show for their committed effort.

The emergent athlete and model equally expressed satisfaction with their time of 38.7secs behind Côte d’Ivoire’s 38.52, which he described as an encouraging result, but admitted there is room for improvement ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

“It was a good race, and we are happy that we left here with something. Though we all train in different places, when we come together it feels like we have been training together for a long time.

“The year is still young. There are a lot of events on schedule, and the biggest of them is the Commonwealth Games. Our goal is to come back with a stronger time and a better position,” Emmanuel projected.
