Iwobi Is Highly Underrated At Arsenal – Sippie

Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi has been tagged one of the top-three underrated players in The Gunners’ squad, and a columnist, Josh Sippie believes the Super Eagles star deserves better recognition.

Writing in the wake of another stunning performance by Iwobi last weekend, as he caused problems for Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby, Sippie opined that Arsenal’s former under-21 team skipper is rated below his quality.

Although Sippie admitted he is also often guilty of denigrating Iwobi, he is now looking forward to better days ahead of the player, with a promise that he will henceforth give him the honour he deserves.

Sippie, though, acknowledged that the scorn Iwobi often receives from the club’s fans is mostly because Arsenal have so many big name players, such that others, especially those who are cheaper in the transfer window, are left to fall under the radar.

He added: “I admit that I am oftentimes too hard on Alex Iwobi. He’s been fantastic at times and, even at the worst of times, his effort is always undying.

“I just expect so much out of him that I can neglect the smaller things he does well – like helping out on defense, something that continuously goes unnoticed.
“His goal contributions could go for a bit of a boost, but it’s not like he’s so far off the pace that it’s raising red flags.
“He’s got three goals and six assists on the year across all competitions, which puts him among the best in the team.
“We’d all like to see a little more consistency, but there is still time for that. Credit where credit’s deserved!”
