This has been made known by the youthful club’s captain, Favour Iroyeme, while basking in the euphoria of their surprise victory over high riding Sporting Lagos.

Inter Lagos pulled off a 2-0 shock victory over the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) outfit, much to the delight of Iroyeme, who said it was due to self-belief on his team.

The effervescent midfielder has now gone on to declare that there is more to come from the nascent outfit that was launched only this past January at Victoria Island, Lagos, as he says they are determined to represent the state well.

He boasted: “It was a match we knew we could win. We know that in the NPFL, they play with a lot of space and zonal marking. They don’t like to go for the ball, but we go for every ball, and we are faster than them.

“We also knew that the time factor would disturb them. We are used to one o’clock matches in the NNL, but they that play in thd NPFL are not. They are used to cool weather games.

“We know that they love to attack from the wings. We studied them and knew this game was something we could win. Right from the training ground, we did not put pressure on ourselves.

“We just knew we’d come here and get the job done. It feels amazing that we have now qualified to play in the FA Cup at the Federation level. This club is not yet one year old. We take it game after game, one at a time.

“It is amazing that we are now going to represent Lagos State at the national level. It’s something we had in our minds for a very long time. We dream about it every day. While we train, we talk about it. In camp, anywhere we meet ourselves, we talk about the national FA Cup.

“We know we have the right quality needed to represent Lagos State, and we showed it here today. I am really glad. All my teammates are happy. The coaches, the backroom staff, everybody, even the club chairman. I am so happy. I’m grateful to God for giving us this victory.”
