A strong verdict has emerged that Imo State might be the next host of the sub-regional Niger-Delta Games, Sports247 reports.
A pointer in this direction came from Imo State’s sports commissioner’s special adviser on media engagement, Mr Greg Okechukwu Nwadike (aka G.O.C.), who assured that everything needed to host well is available.

He also cast a look back at the 2nd Niger Delta Games, which took place recently in Benin City, and reckoned that Imo State can organise a better competition than what was seen at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
Although Abia State is also in the race to host the next edition of the games.
Games that involves nine states and is co-sponsored by Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Nwadike enthused that Imo will get the nod.
He then praised the efforts of the state’s commissioner for sports, Honourable Obinna Evaristus Onyeocha (Onowu), for putting in place a solid policy to develop the sector through grassroots projects.
“Our commissioner is doing a great job for sports on Imo State, especially at the grassroots. We have attended many youth development competitions since he came into office.
“We attended the last NDDC Games in Benin City, and we are now thinking of hosting the next one. I believe we will get the hosting right,” G.O.C. affirmed.
