Imo State Deputy Speaker and Chairman House Committee on Sports Rt Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu was the special guest of honor at the IMO FA congress which took place today.
Speaking at the event, the deputy Speaker extolled the administrative dexterity of Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam and the Imo FA in piloting the affairs of football in the state while assuring the sports body of government’s partnership in using football as a tool for social re-engineering and youth emasculation.
He said, “Imo people love football a lot, in fact, football is in our DNA. His Excellency the Governor understands the passion of the people and will partner with Imo FA to use football as a tool for social re-engineering”
Reacting, the Imo state FA Chairman, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam, commended the Deputy Speaker for his humility and love for the beautiful game. He also assured the lawmaker that FA is ever ready to play her role in the development of Football in the State.
The congress was attended by the Vice-Chairman, Barrister Ifeanyi Dike, Technical committee Chairman Ndubuisi Opara together with the Board Members of the FA, Club owners and representatives, Chairman, members of the Sports Writers Association (SWAN), as well as the chairman of the Imo state Referees council amongst others.
