His remarkable journey in talent scouting has paved the way for numerous players, both on the national and international stages.

Ime’s extensive experience includes collaborations with prominent football figures like Samuel Okpodu, Ismaila Mabo, and Taiwo Ogunjobi, positioning him as a well-respected figure in the scouting domain.

When reflecting on his scouting process, Ime emphasizes the meticulous nature of his evaluation. He discloses, “To determine a player’s potential, I watch their matches at least three times before making any judgments.

Once I identify potential talents, I connect them with coaches and team managers. While some talents are noticed and groomed, financial constraints sometimes hinder the process. Nevertheless, I remain committed to merit-based selections.”

Ime passionately advocates for a merit-driven approach to scouting, underscoring the need to nurture talent from grassroots levels.

He asserts, “Nigeria boasts a treasure trove of raw talents. To harness this potential, we must prioritize grassroots scouting and support. Many globally renowned players started their journeys in Nigeria. It’s essential to recognize and empower our homegrown talents.”

Addressing the prevalent challenges in the scouting landscape, Ime urges the federal government to facilitate transparent and inclusive selection processes. He suggests, “Coaches should have access to scouting materials to identify potential players. Inviting talents for national trials based on merit will foster a stronger football ecosystem.”

Ime’s networking efforts stem from a collaborative approach. He explains, “Coaches and management occasionally specify the positions they need to fill. If I have suitable players, I facilitate their transition to national teams. Nigeria’s vast expanse allows me to scout talents across the nation. I am committed to seeking out untapped potential.”

As a coordinator with FC Robo Queens, Ime has contributed significantly to nurturing talented female players. With figures like Asisat Oshoala and Rasheedat Ajibade emerging from FC Robo, Ime underscores the importance of supporting clubs that foster talent development. He asserts, “Mentors like Osahon Emmanuel, CEO of FC Robo, have played a crucial role in producing world-class players. It’s vital to provide them with the sponsorship they deserve.”

Ime’s aspiration to enhance his scouting expertise drives him to consider further studies at NIS. Despite financial constraints, his determination remains unwavering. He appeals for support from Lagos State FA and the NFF to amplify his scouting efforts, emphasizing that a consistent, sustained approach to talent discovery is crucial.

In a football landscape brimming with potential, Ime James shines as a torchbearer for grassroots talent scouting. His unwavering commitment and vision for a brighter future for Nigerian football inspire both emerging talents and the larger football community.
