Following a home draw against Djoliba, Abia Warriors’ coach Imama Amapakabo said his side lacked purpose in certain phases of the game. Speaking after the 1-1 result in Uyo, he acknowledged that although they created chances, their attacking moves often stalled early or lacked conviction.
“Our build-up was good in patches, but in the final third, we hesitated. We didn’t take enough risks to break them down,” he said. Amapakabo singled out some miscommunication and slow decision-making as among the culprits that prevented a sharper attacking front.

He stressed that the upcoming away leg will demand tactical adaptability and mental toughness. “Scoring away from home is crucial in this competition. We cannot afford to repeat errors,” he asserted.
In training, Abia Warriors will focus on finishing drills, quick combination plays, and improving width to stretch opposing defences. Amapakabo also noted that defensive stability must be paired with forward urgency.
He remains optimistic: “Even though the first leg didn’t go exactly as we wanted, we are far from out. We have belief in this squad. We know where improvements must come, and we will be ready.”
