Ikoyi Club’s Akin Onabolu Relishes Their ‘Investment In Young People Plus Development Of Swimming Talent’

Ahead of this weekend’s aquatic competition at Ikoyi Club 1938, event coordinator Akin Onabolu is relishing what he described as their ‘investment in young people and development of swimming talent.’

Sports247 reports that Onabolu, chairman of the club’s swimming section, added that many hidden talents who will bring glory and honour to Nigeria in the future will emerge during Saturday’s competition.

He thanked all partners and sponsors whose involvement continues to boost the championship, which is officially known as 3rd NNPC-SNEPCo Inter-schools Swimming Competition, in collaboration with Ikoyi Club 1938.

Onabolu added that the competition is aimed at developing young swimming talents and promoting the sport among school children across Lagos State, hence his appreciation to the sponsors for sustaining the initiative that continues to give students a platform to display their aquatic talents.

“We are grateful to NNPC and SNEPCo for their commitment to this initiative. Their support goes beyond sponsoring a competition. It is an investment in young people, development of swimming talent and creation of opportunities for children to discover their potential.

“The swimmers are eager to compete, and we look forward to an exciting day of racing and outstanding performances,” said Onabolu, who added that the competition will involve backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle, individual medley and team events.

Sports247 gathered further that officials of Ikoyi Club are looking forward to having several students from various schools at the venue on Saturday; for what is expected to be a whole day of an intense, healthy and exciting competition aimed at encouraging the next generation of Nigerian swimmers.
