Ikorodu City’s Coach Bright Ozebagbe Reveals His Strategy To Avoid Conceding Goals In NPFL

The coach of Ikorodu City FC of Lagos, Bright Ozebagbe has come out with a stunning revelation that he has outlined a strategy that would save his team from conceding goals this season in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

Sports247 reports that The Oga Boys shot up to third spot on the NPFL log with a 2-0 spanking of visiting Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri on Sunday, and Ozebagbe disclosed how happy he was with his side’s clean sheet.

With a single point now separating them from Nasarawa United of Lafia in second position and three behind top placed Abia Warriors of Umuahia, Ozebagbe is relishing the prospect of his side winning the league title this season.

He showered encomiums on the players for following his instructions to the letter in Sunday’s game and declared emphatically that he was happy with the result, especially the defenders for not letting a goal in.

Ozebagbe retorted, “The boys played with their hearts, and they met up with our expectation. At the end of the day, we came out victorious. So, I’m happy.”

He went on to confirm that playing each match without conceding any goal is their target for the season, but admitted that he also has to work on the attack in order for the forwards to hit target at the opposing end.

The soft-spoken tactician added, “It was a reflection of what we set as our target this season. We want to try as much as possible not to concede goals.

“So far, the boys have tried to execute that plan, but we also have to keep working on our attack. That’s a department we have to work on more, especially as this team is still in a transition.”

Ozebagbe concluded with another look at Sunday’s result and reckoned that winning the game 2-0 showed promise of better things to come from the Ikorodu-based club’s attackers, who he believes will keep on inproving with each passing game.

Ozebagbe submitted philosophically: “It’s going to come with time; but we just know that we have to keep working. We also have to improve as much as we can to keep this consistency.

“We have to work harder, especially in defence; so that we don’t open up and allow goals in. We know we are going to score, but we don’t want to concede. This season, that’s what we are going to try, and we hope to get results.”
