Ikeja Divisional Football League: Oregun FC Coach Blasts Players For Poor Outing

Head coach of Oregun FC, Olagoke Brown has explained why he was furious with his players in the ongoing Ikeja divisional football league.

Brown disclosed this after his team suffered a 1-3 humiliating defeat in the hands of Smart City recently in Ikeja divisional league at Agege Stadium, Lagos.

He said his players’ performance against Smart City was below average which cost them an embarrassing defeat. He said their opponents did not deserve the victory if his players played to his instruction. He said many of his players have displayed gross indiscipline at the training which forced them to surrender three points to their opponents.

“You played nonsense against Smart City today (last week). It shows that some of you cannot play football for a long time. When I ask you (Players) to come to training, many of you would give one excuse or the other. What I saw today (last week) showed that we need to work hard. We are not good today not because our opponents are better than us but because of our attitudinal behaviors towards the club. If we continue like this, we cannot go far in the tournament.

“If you are praying to God, to make you succeed in your footballing career but you need to examine yourself if you have done your own part too. Without that, nothing would happen,” said Brown who threatened to send some players away if their attitudes are not changed.

On his own remark, Smart City coach, Festus Odini said it was a good match but noted that his team still needs to work hard to achieve greatness out of this league. He said their victory against Oregun FC was well deserved but insisted that there is still room for improvement.

In some matches played so far, Kotex defeated Ante International FC 3-2, while Tops Academy pip Victory Future Stars 1-0.
