He explained that the manufacturer’s Cup was organized in 2015 and after that, the successive administration failed to continue which is very unfortunate.

“Manufacturers’ Cup is one of the traditional football tournaments in the old good days and the last time it was organized was 2015 and now my administration is planning big not to revive the moribund competition but ready to commit financial resources to make it a memorable one for the participating teams,” he said.

Rafiu said the registration form for the tournament would commence on 24, May 2021 saying that any interested club owner should be ready to pay the sum of N30, 000 for registration fees.

“The registration form is N30,000 and the competition is meant for the club owners who are passionate about the development of football in Lagos. The manufactures’ Cup cannot be compared to other grassroots football competitions play in Lagos because the tourney is a brand and many players have come out from this competition and played for national teams in the past. Secondly, it is a competition that attracts football scouts within and outside Nigeria so we cannot lower the registration fees, he said.

The winners of the competition would go home with the sum of N150,000, while the first and second runner up would pocket N100,00 and N50, 000 respectively with other consolatory prizes for distinguished players of the tournament
