Ika Village Square, IVS, the apex Pan-Ika group, has unveiled the Trophies and Medals for the inaugural edition of the IVS Football Tourney on Friday while presenting Jerseys to the three Participating Local Government at a brief ceremony held at the Agbor Township Stadium presided over by the Chairman Entertainment Sports and Tourism Mr. Joe Morgan.

The IKA VILLAGE SQUARE is the main sponsor of the football tournament amongst the Ika people of Edo and Delta States.

The maiden football tournament will feature three teams from Igbanke, Ika North-East, and Ika South Local Government Areas.

According to Mr. Joe Morgan, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, the tournament will commence on Saturday with an opening match between Igbanke and Ika South at Agbor Township Stadium.

The Ika top musician said while presenting the Jerseys to the teams “We are working hard to ensure a very successful tournament. We expect massive spectators at the matches. We have made plans to ensure that all safety protocols are deployed in line with the current coronavirus pandemic.

This influenced our choice of Ika Grammar School and Agbor Township Stadium.

According to Mr. Lucky Sunday, the technical director of the tourney, all the participating teams are in high spirits. “We want to identify football talents during this tournament. Several known national footballers and scouts will attend. Ika has great footballers like Evan Ikoku, Sunday Oliseh, Wilson Ndidi, and Dickson Etuhu.

These big names should be a motivation for the boys to raise their games. We are giving the teams branded jerseys as motivation. Trophies and cash will also be given to deserving teams and players. There is no better way to enjoy this Yuletide than going to the stands”.

The competition which begins December 5 will climax with the finals to be held at Agbor Township Stadium on December 23.

“It’s a very good initiative and l want to commend the IKA VILLAGE SQUARE for this great initiative. This type of tournament on a regular basis will help youths to be focused and shun social Vices as they will be active in sports” The Director of KG Sports Academy stated.
