Iheanacho Injury Blow as Rodgers Confirms Hamstring Concern in Celtic’s Europa League Win

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has raised injury concerns over Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who limped off early during their 2-1 Europa League victory against Sturm Graz on Thursday night.

Iheanacho, who started the match, was forced off in the opening minutes after appearing to pull his hamstring, with Johnny Kenny coming on as his replacement.

Speaking after the game, Rodgers confirmed that the Nigerian forward may have suffered a hamstring injury, adding that it could sideline him for some time.

“The first two [Iheanacho and Johnston]? It doesn’t look great. It looks like hamstrings. But okay, that’s what happens,” Rodgers told TNT Sports.

The injury comes as a major setback for both Celtic and the Nigerian national team, as Iheanacho had only recently returned to form after missing Nigeria’s last World Cup qualifying round due to fitness concerns.

With the Super Eagles’ crucial playoff fixtures approaching, Iheanacho’s latest setback could further complicate head coach Finidi George’s attacking options ahead of the international window
