ICC U19 World Cup Qualifiers: Kenya Defeat Nigeria To Win Division Two Title

Nigeria U-19 men’s cricket team were defeated by Kenya in the final of International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup Africa division two qualifiers in Abuja.

Kenya won the game by 11 runs to win the qualification tournament at the expense of the hosts Nigeria at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

Kenya won the toss and were elected to bat. They recorded 90 runs all out in 35 overs, while Nigeria managed to score only 79 runs in 20.4 overs, leaving Kenya to win the final by 11 runs and lift the trophy.

Nigeria and Kenya will be joined by Sierra Leone, who won the third place playoff in the ICC Africa Division 1 Finals next year.

“It was a low-scoring wicket and we did not get our batting right today, and this is what affected our game. But we have learnt from our mistakes today (Saturday) and we will fix them before the division one,” Daniel Gim, coach of the Nigerian team said after the game.
