Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo has revealed reasons behind his decision to extend his contract with Serie B side Crotone, for another two years.

Speaking during an interview monitored in Lagos, the incredibly tall but efficient goal poacher admitted receiving transfer interests from different top teams in Italy and across Europe.

” There were actually interests from top teams for me to move. But for me, it wasn’t just about the money or playing in a big team, I am concerned about stability in my career.

” I want to continue my football growth in Italy because I believe it is the best for my career. And you must also know that I have a seven- month baby. I really want stability for my family and my football career,” Nwankwo explained.

The smooth talking forward with 14 goals for his team across all competitions, also intoned that the Serie B is tougher than most soccer fans understand. He added that the Italian league remains one of the toughest and best football leagues in the world.

Nwankwo whose last game for the Super Eagles was the friendly against Liberia, was unperturbed about his non inclusion on the provisional list of the Super Eagles for AFCON released by Gernot Rohr.

He went ahead to tip the team to do well in the tournament. He however, noted that it would be a tough championship.

” I believe the Super Eagles can nick it. However, we must be wary because most teams on the continent play compact football and they are difficult to break down,” he added.
