With all the standard football leagues in Nigeria on break, it’s preseason time, and preparation for the new season is already underway with various tournaments being set up to help teams prepare and the Super 8 preseason tournament is set to get going.
Organized by HUK Sports Management, the tournament is designed for eight teams across various league levels in Lagos state to aid preparations for the imminent Lagos State FA Cup and also showcase their players as the presence of scouts is guaranteed.
“The aim behind the tournament is to give teams the opportunity to first prepare for the forthcoming Lagos FA Cup starting later this month of October and also to show their players for the local and international scouting coming to the tournament,” Mr. Ken Maduabuchi, secretary of Collin Edwin explained to Sports247.
He also explained that the tournament is not restricted to any age category as it depends on what projects the clubs are building and it’s in their hands.
Teams participating in the tournament includes NPFL side MFM FC, First Bank FC, FC Bethel, Synergy Ultimate Sports, Colins Edwin FC, Blue Ocean FC, Liqui Moly FC, and BYT Academical FC.
The tournament is billed to run for a week, from Monday 4th October to Friday 8th October with the final game played on the last day after teams progress from their groups into the semi-final.
