Super Eagles Set for Final Training Session as Ibrahim Ajasa Joins Camp in Russia

The Super Eagles will hold their third and final training session ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against Russia, with the session scheduled for 7:30pm local time at the 45,000-capacity Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.

Sports247 reports that Nigeria’s preparations for the encounter have continued with the squad gradually taking shape, with 19 players now in camp ahead of the highly anticipated meeting.

The latest arrival is Ibrahim Ajasa, who has joined the team as the Super Eagles complete their final preparations for the friendly.

Ajasa’s arrival brings the number of players currently available in camp to 19, with the coaching crew expected to use the final training session to work on tactical organisation, set pieces and other match-specific preparations.

Among those already in camp are several experienced Super Eagles players, including Moses Simon, Kelechi Iheanacho and Stanley Nwabali, alongside a number of players who have been handed opportunities to impress within the senior national team setup.

The players currently in camp are Moses Simon, Akor Adams, Stanley Nwabali, Kelechi Iheanacho, Emmanuel Fernandez, Benjamin Frederick, Wilfred Igor, Samuel James, Kenneth Igboke, Chibuzor Nwoko, Umar Abubakar, Peter Edokpolor, Abdullahi Bewene, Umar Abdullai, Michael Atata, Aderemi Adeoye, Isaac James, Michael Stephen and Ibrahim Ajasa.

Head coach Éric Chelle will now have one final opportunity to assess his available players before naming his matchday squad for the Russia encounter.

The final session will also be important for the newly invited players, who are looking to make a strong impression and establish themselves within the national team setup.

Nigeria’s preparations have been affected by a number of withdrawals and travel complications, but the coaching crew has continued to work with the players available in camp.

The Russia friendly represents another opportunity for Chelle to assess his options and give valuable international experience to some of the players competing for places in the Super Eagles squad.

With the final training session set for tonight, attention will now turn fully to the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, where Nigeria and Russia are scheduled to meet on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles will be hoping to round off their preparations on a positive note before stepping onto the pitch for what promises to be an important test for Chelle’s developing squad.
