Atalanta of Italy defender, Honest Ahanor has been hit with startling information that the Serie A outfit will not allow him take up any summer transfer offer that falls below their stipulated price of at least €40m for his signature.
Sports247 gathered that the former club of Stephen Ayodele Makinwa (Tiger of Lagos) and Ademola Lookman (Mola) has already fixed a price tag that ranges from €40m to €45m for the Nigerian-born centre back, hence their decision not to sell him for less.
This has resulted in a major setback for one of Ahanor’s major suitors in the ongoing summer transfer window, as Brighton & Hove Albion of England, who previously enjoyed the services of Leon Aderemi Balogun, saw their opening bid for the Italy defender ejected by Atalanta.
Renowned transfer expert, Nicolò Schira disclosed with a note of affirmation, “Atalanta value Ahanor at between €40m and €45m, meaning Brighton would need to significantly raise their offer to progress negotiations.
“Ahanor only joined Atalanta from Genoa last summer for €20m, making him one of the most expensive Italian teenagers in history. The Premier League club offered around €34m for the 18-year-old, but the proposal was turned down immediately.”
Sports247 reports further that Ahanor enjoyed a strong breakthrough season with Atalanata, as he played 22 Serie A fixtures for the Bergamo-based side, plus nine UEFA Champions League appearances and four games in Coppa Italia.
