In a renewed push to empower young football talents and strengthen grassroots sports in Zamfara State, the member representing Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu (Mai Palace), has launched the maiden edition of the Mai Palace Super Cup, accompanied by an unprecedented reward package for participating teams and outstanding players.
The initiative, aimed at discovering and nurturing budding footballers across the state, saw 100 grassroots teams receive complete football kits and logistics support before kick-off. Each team was equipped with match and training jerseys, boots, socks, footballs, and a ₦20,000 transport stipend—an investment underscoring Hon. Amadu’s commitment to sports development at the community level.
The newly introduced competition will feature 36 teams drawn from all wards within the Gusau/Tsafe axis, with matches set to commence in Tsafe and a grand finale slated for Gusau.
In a move that has generated excitement among football enthusiasts, Hon. Amadu unveiled a robust prize structure designed to encourage participation and elevate the competitive spirit of the tournament. The top-performing teams and individuals will go home with major rewards, including:
Champions: A car + ₦2 million
Runners-up: A tricycle (Keke Napep) + ₦1 million
Third Place: A motorcycle + ₦500,000
Fourth Place: ₦500,000
Best Player: ₦1 million
Best Striker: ₦1 million
Best Goalkeeper: ₦1 million
Most Disciplined Player: ₦1 million
Best Coach: ₦500,000
The total prize value stands at ₦8.5 million, in addition to the vehicles attached to the top three winners.
Hon. Amadu further announced that Zamfara State Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal, will serve as Special Guest of Honour at the final, alongside leading football administrators and stakeholders from across the country.
Speaking during the launch on Saturday, November 22, 2025, the lawmaker expressed gratitude for the successful rollout of the programme, praying for divine blessings over the initiative.
“May Allah bless our efforts. We are grateful to God,” he said.
With the Mai Palace Super Cup, Hon. Amadu has positioned Zamfara State as a growing hub for grassroots football development—offering young talents a platform to shine while strengthening community engagement through sports.
