Speaking after the wrestler’s impressive triumph at the African Wrestling Championships in Egypt, Bashir assured that the federation would prioritize both the athlete’s sporting growth and personal wellbeing.

“His development is our priority,” he said.

According to the federation president, Harrison Vo’s success represents a major achievement for Nigerian wrestling and deserves proper backing.

“He has made the country proud,” he implied.

The Nigerian wrestler secured the country’s only gold medal in the men’s category after defeating Egyptian favourite Mohamed Mostafa 10-4 in the 97kg freestyle final.

“It was a brilliant performance,” Bashir noted.

The federation boss stressed that support for elite athletes must go beyond competitions alone.

“We also care about their personal lives,” he added.

For Bashir, helping athletes develop fully is necessary if Nigeria hopes to maintain its dominance in African wrestling.

“You must support champions properly,” he stressed.

He also expressed confidence that Harrison Vo can continue growing into one of the continent’s leading wrestlers.

“The future is bright for him,” he said.

Nigeria has continued to enjoy strong success in wrestling at continental level, with the federation now focused on sustaining that momentum internationally.

For Bashir, the message is clear.

Support the athletes.

Develop the champions.

And invest in long-term growth.

Because sustained sporting success requires consistent backing beyond the medals.
