The Owerri mainstreams are primed to commence her title chase in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) against the familiar foes from the Oil City of Warri on Wednesday, November 15 at the mainbowl of Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri at 13:00 hours.

The experienced sweeper said despite the fact that the odds favor her side to consolidate on previous dominance that the Owerri Landladies will not soft-pedal but go all out to achieve an emphatic head start in the season’s jump ball.

“Firstly, I want to give God the glory for the eventual start of the season after several preseason buildups, at least, we are well shaped up to kick off our season’s title chase.

“However, there’s nothing new on the terrain for us to worry about, we have worked hard, we have trained very well, and come on Wednesday, I’m sure together with my teammates we are going to give our best to ensure we pick the maximum three points.

“And that’s how I want to kick-start my term as the captain of the side on a winning note.

“Of course, we are not going to look down or underrate our opponents despite having the edge in previous meetings.

“Yes, we beat them home and away last season and that was last season, we also met and defeated them in the preseason that’s equally preseason.

“Obviously, we do not know the style and tactics they will throw up on us, we do not know what they will be coming up with aimed at shocking us.

“We are going to push harder on them to ensure we secure all three points.

“The good and lofty dreams we have for ourselves in the season will start to unfold on Wednesday, I believe strongly in my coaches and teammates, and with the unshaken assurance we will pocket the whole points at stake,” said the former Edo Queens and Ibom Angels’ strong woman to Heartland Queens Media.

After the season’s starter on Wednesday, the Owerri side will embark on two road trips at former champions, Nasarawa Amazons and oriental neighbours, Abia Angels for matchday 2 and 3 actions respectively.
