Former Flying Eagles assistant coach, Hassan Abdallah, has cautioned Nigeria’s U-20 side to be tactically alert when they take on Argentina in the round of 16 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Abdallah, who was part of the coaching setup in previous editions, said Argentina’s biggest strength lies in their wide play. “Argentina’s wingers are very fast and direct. If we give them space, we’ll be punished,” he said.

He urged the Nigerian defense to focus on man-marking and keeping compact lines to avoid being stretched. “Man marking is key. We must close down quickly and not allow them room to switch play. Once they start finding gaps, it becomes very difficult to stop them,” Abdallah added.
Despite his tactical warning, the veteran coach remains optimistic about Nigeria’s chances. “We have a good team. If we are clinical in front of goal, I see us progressing,” he said.
Abdallah also praised coach Aliyu Zubairu for instilling discipline and tactical awareness in the team, describing the squad as one of the most balanced Nigeria has produced in years.
The Flying Eagles will need to be at their tactical best when they face Argentina in what promises to be one of the most exciting fixtures of the tournament.
