Hannover 96 confirm the signing of German-Nigerian defender Kevin Akpoguma on loan from Hoffenheim

Subject to a medical that is expected to take place today, German Bundesliga club Hannover 96 have confirmed the signing of utility defender Kevin Akpoguma.

The Super Eagles target signed on a six-month loan from his parent club Hoffenheim.

It was scooped that the move was an attempt by the former German U20 skipper to get more playing time having last featured for Hoffenhiem in a 3-3 draw against Hertha Berlin on November 24.

Hannover general manager Horst Heldt said: “Kevin brings a lot of speed, he has a good touch and has a good heading game, so he fits in perfectly with our requirements and we are very happy that we could sign him for Hannover.

“I’m really looking forward to the new challenge. I want to get in the team quickly, play match practice and play my part in helping us reach our goal and stay in the division,” Akpoguma said.

“The club impressed me a lot I’ll do my utmost to make it a loan that will benefit everyone.”

He could make his league debut for Hannover in a home fixture against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on January 19.

Akpoguma, 23, is touted to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria after reported attempts by the NFF to make him wear the green white green.
