Super Eagles’ striker, Akor Jerome Adams, is finding his summer transfer to Venezia of Italy turning into a nightmare, as he fired blanks once again in action for the Venice-based Italian Serie A side and they lost 2-0 to SS Lazio.
Sports247 reports that the going is getting tougher for Adams and his club, as Venezia remain bottom of the table and their spirited efforts versus Lazio on Saturday evening could not bail them out of stormy waters.
While Adams missed a chance to redeem things for the team at one point during the game, other players in his squad also came close a number of times during the course of the fixture, but all their efforts fell flat.
Many observers have started asking why Adams left Sevilla of Spain, where he had cemented his spot after arriving from Montpellier of France the previous summer, with several goals under his boots reflecting a successful spell in La Liga.
Sadly, all his heroics in Spain are almost forgotten, and his immediate future looks bleak, as Venezia remain without a point this season, after an inspired second-half display by Lazio gave the Rome side victory and they climbed joint-top of the log.
A report by Tribal Football noted in part, “Venezia were given the first chance to open the scoring when Christos Mandas wiped out wing-back Thierry Correia after a mistake in the Biancocelesti’s defence.
“Mandas immediately atoned for his error, producing a brilliant save low to his left to deny John Yeboah from 12 yards. The Greece international then had to react sharply again to palm away a ferocious volley from Simon Sohm.
“A cross from Antoine Hainaut flew agonisingly beyond the onrushing Venezia attackers at the back post. Lazio continued to find themselves under constant pressure against Serie A’s bottom side.
“Akor Adams had another golden chance for the hosts when played through by Yeboah, but he couldn’t beat the inspired Mandas, who also beat away a curling effort from Hainaut soon after.”
Sports247 reports that the 26-year-old Benue State-born product of Jamba Football Academy is having his worst spell at club level since his breakthrough in 2018, when he joined Sogndal of Norway, then signed a three-year contract with Lillestrøm on December 2nd, 2021.
