Handball: Pillars want to sustain good form

Coach Solomon Yola of Kano Pillars has said his team good form that saw a rise to the top of the Handball League table is an indication that they are prepared to finish the competition as Champions.

Pillars moved to the top of the log with a 25 – 20 victory over Safety Shooters on Wednesday at the velodrome of the Abuja National Stadium in Abuja.

Yola described the victory as hard-fought win which will be vital for the team in the second phase of the competition in Lagos later in the year.

“Safety Shooters are a strong team and any team playing against them must be ready to give their all.”

“We are prepared and we want to pick the 22 points in the first phase of the league before going for the Lagos phase. It is hard work but the players are ready for the task ahead,” he said.

The coach stressed further that his team is blessed with experienced players who are internationals which has rob off the team.

“We have about 11 players in various national teams and when they come back to the team after national assignments, they bring great experience to our team.”

“We are also happy that the team is well -funded by the Kano State Government through the sports council. They are all underemployment, so they are prepared to take on any team,” Yola added.
