Nigeria’s Goodnews Aina has booked her place in the final of the ongoing J30 Accra World Tennis Tour Juniors event in Ghana after producing a battling performance to overcome Togo’s Winner Gakpo in a dramatic three-set semifinal.

Aina started strongly, taking the opening set 6-4 and putting herself in a good position to secure victory. Gakpo, however, responded in the second set, matching the Nigerian’s intensity and levelling the contest with a 6-3 win.
With a place in the final at stake, Aina maintained her composure in the deciding set. The Nigerian left-hander produced the crucial moments when they mattered most, eventually securing another 6-4 victory to seal her place in the championship match.
The achievement marks only the second time Aina has reached the final of a J30 event, underlining her continued progress on the international junior tennis circuit.
Her previous J30 final appearance came earlier this year in Abuja, and reaching another final in Ghana represents another important milestone in the youngster’s developing career.
The latest victory also highlights Aina’s ability to compete under pressure, particularly after surrendering the second set and being forced to fight through a deciding set.
