In the men’s singles matchplay amateur category, Emmanuel Samuel Odeh delivered a standout performance to claim gold, while Delta’s Okoh Charles secured silver, and Plateau’s Sunday Okoh Morris rounded out the podium with bronze.

The tournament has seen strong showings across the board, with four gold medals already awarded in golf.

In the ladies’ singles matchplay amateur, Janet Alli from FCT Abuja emerged victorious with a dominant gold medal win. Edo’s Okoho NN took silver, while Plateau’s Onoja Beatrice claimed the bronze medal.
Coaches and officials present at the tournament’s technical meeting called for greater national investment in golf, describing it as a rapidly growing sport with the potential to attract international attention and elevate Nigeria’s sporting reputation globally.
Attention now turns to the fourball strokeplay amateur competitions, which began on Wednesday, May 21. Key matchups in the men’s category include Edo vs Benue, Bayelsa vs Delta, and Ogun vs Katsina. The women’s event will feature contests such as Lagos vs Ogun, Kano vs Benue, and Delta vs Ondo.
With several events still to come, the golf competition remains one of the most closely watched segments of the festival, as states aim to solidify their places in the medal table and golfers continue to showcase their talents on the national stage.
