Onuachu’s departure to explore new opportunities elsewhere led to a void that Genk now seeks to fill.

Reports have surfaced indicating Genk’s eagerness to reacquire the services of Onuachu, who struggled to make an impact during his tenure with the Sky Bet Championship club, Southampton. Since his move to Southampton from Genk in January, the Nigerian striker faced difficulty finding the back of the net, failing to score a single goal in his 11 league appearances for the Saints.

During his time at Genk, Onuachu experienced unparalleled success, firmly establishing himself as a prolific goal-scorer. The Super Eagles striker impressively netted 79 goals in 114 league appearances for Genk, showcasing his remarkable talent.

Notably, 2021 proved to be a particularly exceptional year for Onuachu, as he secured numerous accolades in recognition of his outstanding performance. Among his prestigious achievements were the Belgian First Division A Top Goalscorer, the Belgian Professional Footballer of the Year, the Belgian Golden Shoe, and the Ebony Shoe.

Furthermore, he received well-deserved recognition by being named to the Belgian First Division A Team of the Year. These honours solidified his position as one of Genk’s most eminent goal-scoring figures in the club’s history.

In addition to Genk’s keen interest, several other prominent clubs have emerged as potential suitors for the Nigerian international. Bundesliga sides, such as Borussia Monchengladbach, Union Berlin, Stuttgart, and Schalke 04, have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Onuachu’s talents. Furthermore, Turkish Super Lig outfits, including Trabzonspor and Besiktas, have also been linked with the striker.

The competition to secure Onuachu’s services reflects his exceptional abilities and the widespread recognition he has garnered within the football community. Genk remains poised to reignite the success they experienced with Onuachu and eagerly awaits his potential return.
