Gadmaj FC Clinch KAAF Title as Sir Kesington Adebutu Marks 90th Birthday with Twin Football Finals

Gadmaj FC emerged champions of the 2025 Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu Foundation (KAAF) Male Age-Grade Football Competition on Wednesday, capping a dramatic finale that doubled as a grand celebration of the 90th birthday of legendary philanthropist and football benefactor, Sir Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu.

In a gripping final at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, Gadmaj FC edged Castmog FA 4–2 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in regulation time to lift the coveted trophy.

The atmosphere was electric as the young stars showcased skill, grit, and teamwork — a fitting tribute to a man whose vision continues to shape grassroots football in Nigeria.

The special twin celebration also featured the 2024 final, where Chosen Generation FC defeated Heyfash FC 5–4 on penalties after another pulsating draw. Heyfash FC missed a decisive penalty late in regulation time — a costly moment that handed their opponents the advantage in the shootout.

Organized by the Ogun State Football Association under Chairman Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, the event underscored KAAF’s enduring commitment to youth empowerment and talent discovery. Winners and runners-up received cash rewards, while individual accolades went to standout performers of the tournament.

In his remarks, Alhaji Majekodunmi lauded Sir Kesington Adebutu — affectionately known as Baba Ijebu — for his unwavering support toward nurturing young footballers, describing him as “a beacon of generosity and a pillar of grassroots sports development.”

Sir Kesington, visibly moved by the outpouring of tributes, expressed gratitude to all who joined in his 90th birthday celebration. He reaffirmed his lifelong passion for using football as a platform to empower the youth, promising continued investment in the game’s growth at the grassroots level.

The event drew an impressive array of dignitaries, including ITTF Africa President Barrister Wahid Enitan Oshodi, former NFF President Amaju Pinnick, NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, and Hon. Ladi Adebutu, among others — further highlighting the magnitude of the occasion.

As Gadmaj FC lifted the 2025 title and Sir Kesington celebrated nine remarkable decades, the day served as both a victory for youth football and a testament to one man’s lasting legacy of service, sportsmanship, and social impact.
