Switzerland-based Nigerian youth football coach, Adeyemi Adedeji Anthony, has expressed confidence in the future of Nigerian football following the unveiling of the new technical crews for the Nigeria national under-20 football team and the Nigeria national under-17 football team by the Nigeria Football Federation.

“Congratulations to the coaches, well deserved. They have rich CVs and I believe the future of Nigeria football is in safe hands,” Adeyemi said.
The respected youth football expert particularly praised newly-appointed Flying Eagles head coach Abdu Maikaba, highlighting his vast experience and previous involvement with the national U20 setup.
“Maikaba is a very experienced coach and being a former assistant in the Flying Eagles setup will surely help him hit the ground running,” he added.
Coach Adeyemi also spoke highly of new Golden Eaglets head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere, popularly known as Ebo Uwe, noting that his deep understanding of grassroots football and youth development could spark a revival for Nigeria’s famed U17 side.
“Ebo Uwe is vast in knowledge with young footballers and the combination of top grassroots coaches promises exciting times ahead for the revival of the Golden Eaglets. I wish them all the best on the job.”
The new era officially begins this Sunday in Abuja as the Flying Eagles open camp ahead of the upcoming WAFU B U20 Championship scheduled for July.
The competition will also serve as qualifiers for the 2027 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
Maikaba will work alongside first assistant Ortega Deniran, second assistant Abdullahi Biffo, and goalkeepers’ trainer Usman Mohammed.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eaglets coaching crew led by Eboboritse Uwejamomere will prepare for the WAFU B U17 Championship in September, with qualification for the Africa U17 Cup of Nations firmly in sight.
The Eaglets’ technical bench includes first assistant Olumide Joseph Ajibolade, second assistant Mohammed Kalli Kachala, and goalkeepers’ trainer Abdullahi Isa.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles remain Africa’s most successful U20 side with seven continental titles, while the Golden Eaglets still hold the record for the most FIFA U17 World Cup triumphs with five titles, a legacy the new coaches will hope to build upon.
