Young football talent Ibrahim Abdulrahmon who plays for Rakel Football academy delivered a memorable performance, scoring a stunning free-kick as his team secured a 2-0 victory over Radiance FC, while revealing his ambition to progress to the national team and eventually play for his dream European club, Barcelona.
Speaking exclusively in a Sports247 interview after the game, Abdulrahmon praised his team’s teamwork and coordination but admitted that there was still room for improvement despite the positive result.

“We performed well. It was a nice performance, though we didn’t do enough of what was expected. However, we thank God for the win. We had teamwork and coordination which gave us the victory,” he said.
With another important fixture ahead, the youngster promised supporters that the team would raise its performance level.
“The fans will see a better performance from the team in the next game. We will come out fully and play our best game.”
Abdulrahmon’s individual highlight came from a well-executed free-kick, but the youngster was quick to dismiss any suggestion that the goal was simply a matter of luck.
“It isn’t luck. I have scored many free-kick goals. Free-kick is one of the things I can do,” he confidently stated.
The talented player also revealed that representing Nigeria at any national team level would be a dream come true.
“I will feel very good and will thank God because that is my dream—to move forward in football.”
When asked about his preferred destination in European football, Abdulrahmon immediately picked Barcelona, explaining that he admires the Spanish club’s possession-based style.
“I would like to sign for Barcelona,” he said. “I like the way they play tiki-taka football. They are my dream team.”
Interestingly, when asked about his role model within the Nigerian national team, Abdulrahmon said he currently does not have one. Outside Nigeria, however, the youngster looks up to Barcelona midfielder Pedri.
He admires the Spanish midfielder’s composure and ability to control the game without rushing his decisions.
“I love the way he plays football. He usually calms the ball and doesn’t rush with the ball,” Abdulrahmon explained.
Asked what he would say if he had the opportunity to meet Pedri, his response was simple and respectful:
“He is a good footballer.”
With a free-kick goal already providing a glimpse of his ability, Abdulrahmon now has his eyes firmly set on development, stronger performances and ultimately fulfilling his dream of representing Nigeria and playing at the highest level of European football.
