Former Super Eagles’ winger, Baldwin Bazuaye has opined that Nigeria can still pick a ticket to next year’s FIFA World Cup but stressed that it would be possible only if the players are encouraged all the way till the last whistle.
Sports247 reports that the former wing dazzler admitted that the ticket to USA/Canada/Mexico 2026 is no longer a straightforward offer for the Eagles to grab, but pointed out that putting pressure on the players can’t solve the problem.
Bazuaye added, “I ask the country not to put pressure on them. If you put pressure on them, the team is going to collapse.
“All we need to do is just talk to the boys. Let’s give them more encouragement and see if we can get something from them. That’s just the solution right now, until everything is over.
“After that, we should go to the drawing board to rediscover ourselves. We need to discover where the problem is coming from first of all.”
He continued by pointing out that Nigerians have to support the team with prayers, considering that not only should the Eagles play to win, but they also need South Africa and Benin Republic to lose.
Bazuaye reiterated: “Why should you give them problems or put pressure on them? Don’t put pressure on them, but let’s see how we can encourage them.
“Let’s encourage them and see if we can get something in the last two games. As we are playing to win, we should also pray that other teams in our group should lose. Let’s keep our house together and see how we can win.”
