Egbe, known for his outspoken views, emphasized his desire for the team to secure positive results, especially in the match against Lesotho in Uyo, where the atmosphere is conducive, and massive support is expected from the local fans. However, he pinpointed his concern about the goalkeeping position.

In no uncertain terms, Egbe stated, “My worry is the goalkeeper. I’m of the opinion that another goalkeeper be given a chance. We have tried to give him confidence, but he’s not responding positively. So let us try another goalkeeper.”

He attributed the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar to Uzoho’s performance, asserting that now is the time to explore other goalkeeping options. Egbe acknowledged the criticisms directed at Uzoho, interpreting them as signals for improvement.

Egbe emphasized the need to assess other goalkeepers in camp, urging the coaching staff to provide opportunities for different players. He expressed concern about the upcoming World Cup, stating, “I do not think we need to toy with this next World Cup. We did not qualify for the last World Cup because of Uzoho.”

Responding to questions about whether Uzoho is receiving appropriate guidance from the coach, Egbe highlighted the importance of fostering healthy competition among goalkeepers. He stressed the need for the coach to consider other talented goalkeepers and provide them with opportunities to showcase their abilities for the benefit of the national team.

The call for a change in the goalkeeping position reflects Egbe’s commitment to the success of the Super Eagles, with a focus on leveraging the depth of talent available for crucial matches in the World Cup qualifiers.
