Football: ‘I’m Under No Pressure’ — Flying Eagles Coach Maikaba Sends Strong Message Ahead Of WAFU-B Championship

Flying Eagles head coach Abdu Maikaba has dismissed suggestions that he is under pressure following his appointment, insisting his priority is to build a team capable of making Nigerians proud.

The experienced tactician said his immediate focus is on instilling his football philosophy into the squad ahead of the WAFU-B U-20 Championship.

“I’m not under any pressure. My focus is on building the team and ensuring the players understand my philosophy,” Maikaba said.

Widely respected for his attractive style of football at club level, Maikaba believes success will come naturally once the players fully adapt to his methods.

The former Kano Pillars coach explained that assembling a competitive national team takes patience, discipline and commitment from both the coaches and players.

“What is important is that the players understand the system we want to play,” he added.

Maikaba expressed confidence that the Flying Eagles will develop into a team Nigerians can be proud of, both in terms of results and playing style.

He maintained that his ambition is to build a side capable of competing with the best youth teams on the continent.

“When we’re done putting this team together, Nigerians will be proud of how the Flying Eagles play,” he stated.

The Flying Eagles are currently preparing for the WAFU-B U-20 Championship, which serves as the qualifying tournament for the next U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, with Maikaba hoping to guide a new generation of Nigerian talents onto the continental stage.
