The crucial encounter will take place on Saturday in Ikenne, Ogun State, with the Flamingos aiming to secure a commanding first-leg advantage before the return fixture in Benin.

Victory over the two legs will book Nigeria’s place at the World Cup finals in Morocco.

The Flamingos have enjoyed an impressive qualifying campaign so far.

They cruised past Guinea with an emphatic 11-0 aggregate victory, showcasing their attacking firepower and defensive solidity. Nigeria dominated both matches, creating numerous chances while keeping their opponents at bay.

Following the convincing triumph over Guinea, the coaching crew led by Akeem Busari ensured the team maintained its momentum through intensive training sessions and a series of competitive friendly matches designed to sharpen the squad ahead of the decisive qualifiers.

Nigeria remains one of Africa’s most successful teams at this level, with a proud record of consistently qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The Flamingos also made history by winning the bronze medal at the 2022 tournament in India, further cementing their reputation as one of the continent’s elite youth sides.

Captain Harmony Chidi has been the standout performer in the qualifiers, scoring five goals across the two matches against Guinea.

The prolific forward has combined clinical finishing with inspiring leadership to spearhead Nigeria’s campaign.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi has also impressed, contributing three goals while consistently creating chances for her teammates.

Her creativity and intelligent movement have made her one of the team’s most influential attacking players.

Another key player expected to trouble Benin Republic’s defence is Queen Joseph, whose pace, direct running and eye for goal have made her one of the Flamingos’ biggest attacking threats.

Benin Republic, however, will arrive in Nigeria with confidence after eliminating Sierra Leone 5-1 on aggregate to reach the final qualifying round.

The Amazons will hope to upset the favourites and move one step closer to a historic World Cup appearance.

Despite Nigeria’s rich pedigree, the Flamingos know qualification cannot be taken for granted.

They will be looking to capitalize on home advantage by delivering another disciplined and clinical performance before travelling for the decisive second leg.

With a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco now within touching distance, the Flamingos are determined to take another major step towards extending Nigeria’s proud tradition on the global stage.
