Nigeria’s U17 girls, the Flamingoes continued their impressive preparations for the upcoming FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier with a resounding 5-0 victory over Lakeside Queens FA in a friendly encounter.
The Flamingos delivered another dominant attacking display as Head Coach Akeem Busari continues to fine-tune his squad ahead of the crucial showdown against the Guinea women’s national under-17 football team scheduled for May 23.
From the opening whistle, the Flamingos controlled possession, pressed aggressively, and created several scoring opportunities, underlining the growing confidence and chemistry within the squad.
The breakthrough came in the 16th minute when Kemi Adekemi calmly finished off a well-worked move after receiving an assist from Queen Joseph to hand Nigeria an early lead.
The Flamingos maintained their dominance and doubled the advantage in the 36th minute through Mary Dunstan, whose composed finish capped another flowing attacking sequence.
Nigeria returned from the break with even greater intensity. In the 51st minute, highly-rated forward Harmony Chidi added the third goal after combining brilliantly with Rodiat. Just three minutes later, Sefiat Idris got on the scoresheet following a precise assist from Precious Oscar to make it 4-0.
The fifth goal arrived in the 67th minute when Ebube rose highest to convert a corner kick delivered expertly by Sefiat Idris, completing another emphatic performance by the Flamingos.
The result continues an outstanding run of form for the Nigerian side during camp preparations. In six friendly matches played so far, the Flamingos have recorded five victories and one draw, scoring an impressive 28 goals while conceding only two.
With momentum building steadily and competition for places increasing within the squad, the Flamingos appear fully focused on securing victory against Guinea and booking another place on the world stage.
