Finidi George Sounds Warning to RS Berkane as Rivers United Target Champions League Rebound

Rivers United head coach Finidi George has sent a clear message to Moroccan heavyweights RS Berkane ahead of their must-win CAF Champions League Group B encounter on Friday, declaring that his side has learned from last weekend’s painful setback and is primed for redemption.

The Pride of Rivers host Berkane at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, seeking to reboot their group stage campaign after a bruising 3–0 loss to Pyramids FC in Cairo.

With pressure mounting and home advantage now in their favour, Finidi insists his players are fully locked in.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the former Super Eagles winger noted that the team has carried out extensive analysis on Berkane and is ready to meet the challenge head-on.

“Our focus is on the game against Berkane,” Finidi said. “We’ve made enquiries about them and we know what to expect. We have all the support we need to maintain high intensity and secure the maximum points. It’s going to be a difficult game, but the match we played in Cairo taught us so much, and we don’t want to repeat those mistakes.”

Finidi added that the squad has put in significant work since returning from Egypt, emphasizing their determination to respond with a statement performance.

“We have learned our lessons and we are working hard to get a positive result,” he said confidently.

With Group B still wide open, a victory on Friday would thrust Rivers United back into contention and re-energize their push for a knockout-stage ticket. The Pride of Rivers now carry not just the weight of expectation, but the opportunity to show resilience on the continental stage.
