As many permutations, analyses, predictions and forecasts spread ahead of Wednesday’s semi-final clash between Nigeria and Brazil at the 2026 FIFA Women’s U17 World, the South Americans’ defence has been rated as ‘vulnerable.’
Sports247 reports that this verdict was served by a Lagos-based youth football expert, Moses Odubela (aka Mozaino1), who tipped the Flamingos for victory and move on to their first ever appearance in the competition’s final.
However, Odubela did not hesitate to warn Coach Akeem Busari and his players that victory will not come easy for them, considering that any team in rge semi-final of a global football championship cannot be considered as a pushover.
The tactician and school teacher then took a swipe at Nigeria’s football administrators, who he opined have not encouraged the country’s large array of very capable coaches that are grooming talents at the grassroots.
Odubela declared in a chat with Sports247: “It is quite disheartening that the kind of leaders we have hardly give grassroots coaches the attention and support they deserve. They only show up to celebrate victories without recognising the hardwork, sacrifices and dedication that go into achieving those successes.
“Well, regarding Wednesday’s encounter with Brazil, I believe Nigeria has a realistic chance of reaching the final. Brazil are a formidable opponent and their 2-1 comeback victory over China demonstrates their quality.
“However, the Flamingos have equally displayed resilience, character and an impressive fighting spirit throughout the competition. My advice to the coach and his technical crew is to approach the game with tactical discipline and maintain defensive concentration.
“The girls should look to exploit the spaces behind the Brazilian defence, as their backline has shown some vulnerabilities. Most importantly, the coach should encourage the players to express themselves confidently on the pitch and play without fear. Aluta continua, victoria acerta!!!”
